For all Applicants, please read the following:

-- You may apply to only one position, unless you receive special permission from the Managing Editor that you may apply to more than one position (blueshiftquestions@gmail.com). 

-- Applications are due at 11:59 pm EST on August 31.

-- By applying to our staff, you understand that if you are selected, as long as you are a part of our staff, you shall not be able to publish with us (aside from blog posts, of course).

-- Please submit your application in Times New Roman, 12 pt. font.

-- We may conduct interviews with applicants to gain a better understanding of their scope and ability at a later period in time.

-- All jobs are re-offered to staff members for subsequent issues, unless extenuating circumstances arise during an issue’s reading period.

-- All staff members, including members of the editorial board, can be fired or demoted at any time if other members of the editorial board believe he/she is not fulfilling his/her role to the utmost.

--  All positions are currently volunteer, non-paid.


AVAILABLE POSITIONS:

I) Art Readers (2)

For all readers, time commitment is around 2-6 hours a week.  With our Submittable upgrade, reading will be on a rolling basis.  Readers are expected to be on top of their work during reading periods.  Reading is expected to be thorough and regular on each piece.  Section Editors oversee their readers.  Exemplary work as a reader will result in promotion to an editor position.

II) Blog Manager (1)

Hours are between 2 and 5 per week. The Blog Manager will oversee and review all publications on our affectionately-named blog, The Blueg, including blog posts, interviews, reviews, columns, & other.

III) Features Staff (2)

Hours vary. Extensive interview experience, particularly interviews with artists and poets, is preferred. Job requires at least two interviews a month, plus finding, organizing, and coordinating with the Featured Artists of the Month themselves.  Features Editor will answer directly to the Blog Manager and Editor in Chief in all matters.

IV) Social Media Assistant (2)

2-3 hours per week. Assistants will answer directly to the Social Media Correspondent. They will help maintain the Blueshift's Twitter feed, Facebook posts, and newsletters.

 V) Assistant Outreach Manager (1)

Hours vary. Assists in implementation of our intern program (tri-weekly rotation). Responds directly to Outreach Manager.

VI) Blog Writer
Responsible for creating and executing a multi-part blog series on any topic, with permission from EiC, to be published on our blog, The Blueg. Each series should consist of no less than one post per week, with the entire series taking place over the course of at least one month. Blog writers will respond directly to the Blog Manager.
